High & Low Angle Rescue is a specialized skill that utilizes ropes and specialized equipment to reach victims, extricate them and recover them back to a safe environment. Rope Rescue Technicians are individuals that are formally trained and need their hands free to maneuver ropes, lines, and special equipment to assist with raising or lowering a victim.  There are three primary categories of rope rescue: high angle urban/structural, wilderness/mountain rescue, and cave rescue. There are significant differences between each in both technique and equipment and should not be attempted by anyone that is not properly trained.  Here at the Tri-State Emergency Team, we focus on wilderness/mountain rope rescue as this is our primary response location.
